Yeung Man Cooking combines my loves of plant-based food, pan asian cuisine, and a minimalist style. This particular recipe for spicy chili oil made with ghost peppers brings in my other love, heat.
Chef Wil Yeung also keeps his cutting board and work space ridiculously clean and well organized, which is a kind of a big deal for me. I have worked on and off in hospitality and as a chef onboard boats for many years and am (just a little) particular about organization and cleaning. I blame living and working in very small spaces…though those who know me might say I’m just intense. Whatever.
I’m not usually into watching cooking videos, but Wil Yeung’s recipes are no fuss, intuitive and gorgeously presented. Plus, you get all those soothing and happy vibes from his minimal and clean process.
Every recipe starts out “LAY HO MA (how’s it going in Cantonese)!” and ends with “Now you can make this delicious _______ with absolute (pause) confidence!” A little virtual high-five right back at ya, Chef!
