I recently watched the PBS mini series, Little Bird (2023). It follows the story of Bezhig Little Bird, who was adopted as a young child by a family in Canada, as she decides to search for her birth family.
Without giving away too much, she discovers that she was part of the “60s Scoop”, a systematic program to remove indigenous children from their families. This is Bezhig’s “returning home story, reclamation of her identity story, finding where she belongs story – while celebrating this very untold version of indigenous love, indigenous families, and celebrating home through an indigenous lens“.
I give it a big recommend. Story, visuals, & MUSIC – a beautifully human and powerful portrayal of this story.
