As someone who lives and travels aboard an old wooden sailboat, it probably makes sense that I’d share this project. Check it out for a taste of jungle shipyard life!
SailCargo Inc. is a young organization in Costa Rica who have a vision of building a sustainable shipping industry. They have built a community focused shipyard (including food gardens, forest regeneration, and co-living) and are now embarking on a grand project to build a fleet of sustainable sailing cargo vessels for commercial shipping.
Their first ship will be called Ceiba, in honor of the Maya Tree of Life, (aka the Ceiba Tree, Gaia Tree, or Silk Cotton Tree) which also happens to be one of my favorite trees.
Please let me know what you think, and share your projects in Z’s community forum – a place to share, organize, ask, vent, play, and connect. By widely sharing vision and strategy towards mutual aims in solidarity with each other – we will change everything.
