“The question is, who are you?”
– Absolem, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
I have been known to give strangers unnecessary information about bugs, and other creatures, during social interactions. (My mom is an entomologist and I was raised in a barn. Sorry, not sorry.)
Now, look at this cool bug!
Cerura vinula, or Giant Puss Moth, is named after its cat-like appearance as an adult. The below video of her metamorphosis captivated me and inspired this little poem for the new year…
Metamorphosis
Tiny caterpillar into giant moth.
Feet into flight,
Inches to skies.
Transformation embodied.
Wonder proven.
Change as constant.
Anything is possible.
For life, for love, for breath,
Put down your work a moment.
Look around you.
