You’ve almost certainly been inside Palantir’s machinery without knowing it.
Palantir Technologies was born from CIA venture money and is chaired by Peter Thiel — the man who once wrote that he no longer believes freedom and democracy are compatible. It runs battlefield intelligence for the US military; it holds NHS patient records in the UK; and it polices Ecuador’s borders on behalf of the far-right government.
Palantir tested its surveillance tech on Palestinians amidst the Gaza genocide and now sells it to governments as “battle tested.”
And it’s doing all of this through contracts most parliaments have never even seen.
Palantir is dangerous because its architecture is everywhere and by the time anyone asks how it got there, it’s too late. The company wants to control our states, surveil our lives, and strip us of our rights — and they are moving fast, quietly plotting a coup against our democracies.
We’re not okay with that.
The Palantir Pledge – developed by the Progressive International, the BDS Movement, DiEM25 and many more – is simple. It’s a commitment from public officials — councillors, mayors, parliamentarians, ministers — that reads:
“I will not sign, vote, or support public contracts with Palantir Technologies.”
We’re collecting signatures right now and we need your help with two things:
-
Add your name. If you hold any public office — or even if you don’t — sign the pledge and share it. It takes thirty seconds: https://act.progressive.international/palantir/
-
Go local. Palantir doesn’t only sign national contracts, it works at the city level, the regional level, the procurement-officer level. Find out who your local representatives are. Ask them one question: “Have you signed the Palantir Pledge?” If they haven’t, send them the link. If they have, thank them and ask them to push their colleagues.
From 29 September to 1 October, people all over the world are doing exactly this as part of the People vs Palantir global days of action.
We know Palantir can be defeated. In Switzerland, Britain and Germany, workers and communities have forced their decision-makers to act against Theil and his cronies.
Palantir’s greatest strength is our silence. That’s why we must be vocal: Sign the pledge. Tell your friends. Lobby your politicians.
Together, we can stop Palantir.
