Dear Z Community,

This August, during Z’s fundraising drive, we are asking you to take action with us. It’s time to get up and stand up, not just in opposition to all the horrors unfolding around us, but to stand up FOR something in unity and strength.

To provide a forum and tools for diverse activists to propose, not just oppose, has been Z’s mission for nearly 50 years. If you agree that now more than ever we urgently need to build collective power and strategically pursue pro-social change – then the ZCommunity is your community. And we have an action path for you.

Step 1: Build & support communal infrastructure. As a people’s media, Z is 100% donor funded. It is 100% accountable to you and depends 100% on your participation to sustain it. The billionaires and authoritarians have their own well funded media which exists to serve their interests. Please contribute what you can to Z, which exists to serve your interests.

Step 2: Go beyond critique. Seek, develop, and share vision to guide practice, motivate, and provide mutual aims around which to coalesce. Z offers many resources and also wants to hear from you – we are a discursive hub for vision & strategy.

Step 3: Do what you can, where you are, in your own way – and in so doing, build local community. Z disseminates examples of activism from all over the world, offers tools, educational content, and opportunities to join campaigns and projects, and connects you directly with each other. Use these resources to explore your own unique applications.

Step 4: Share, reflect, improve, enjoy and repeat. For the many of you who have already entered into this cycle of action, you can attest that it is not only possible to act in community to create change for the better, but that it is also possible to be changed for the better via this cycle. By participating in this action cycle, you are liberating yourself which opens space for others to do the same. We are constantly bombarded with descriptions of the existential urgency of change in our present moment. We do not feel the need to add to that now. You know what it’s like out there – we’re here to remind you that we’re in here, with you and for you, in reciprocity.

It’s up to each of us NOW to take care of each other, of our alternative, liberatory, and compassionate systems and infrastructure, and to share this hopeful practice as an antidote to the death-cults of capital and fascism.

You are an essential part of an incredible community, traveling together towards a worthy vision for better.
