Free Derry Corner is in the Bogside area of Derry City, Ireland. Inspired by the sit-in protests in Berkeley University, the words “You Are Now Entering Free Derry” were painted on the gable wall of a terraced house in 1969 during the Battle of the Bogside. Today the wall has become a recognised symbol of resistance and is used as a sort of public noticeboard to highlight important contemporary issues.
In these dark times for Palestine, we’re using it to show Derry’s (and Ireland’s) support for the Palestinian people.
