For all you poetry lovers out there, here’s Google Beach, a poem from the pen of David Almaleck Wolinsky. You can reach David at [email protected]:
Oh dear, how we used to love
all things great and Googly,
from Baby Googoo to Lady Gaga,
the Law of Large Numbers and the lore
of vagabond Searchers – you, too,
Andrew YouTube.
But we grew old. The beach is cold,
bracing and threatening in turn.
Fires burn on the far shore. Sergei grins.
But in the ocean infinity has lost
its trial, choking on plastic; it is reeling
(porn intended) from overfishing,
overreaching, brutal coral bleaching.
O ex-nerd Masters of the Universe:
What new strategy? WTF…?
Meanwhile, collecting everything Kubla saw,
trash on the beaches of Gaza and Syria,
Cape Town and Florida, measuring drought
and Michigan water drop by drop by bit and terror-
byte, the great data empires prepare for war.
