We hold these truths to be self-evident:

1. That the mainstream media lies.  Pay it no mind.  Turn away from it as you would turn away if offered a cup of water dipped raw from the Mississippi to drink.  The political candidates that the mainstream reports to us are corporately funded candidates.  They are like polluted water.  If elected, they will change nothing.  They will give us only more of the same:  more officials who enable the continued looting of the public treasury while calling it economic reform; more officials who unquestioningly support worldwide U.S. military aggression while calling it defending freedom, more officials who ram through policies that reduce middle class incomes and security while calling it free enterprise, more officials who increase debt everywhere while claiming money is scarce, even while two trillion dollars in cash sits in banks waiting, not to be invested in people and infrastructure, but on the next speculative bet its owners, the super-rich, decide to place in the exclusive and exhilarating casino game they have fashioned out of life on earth.  Pay no attention to the mainstream media.  It lies.  It offers distraction.  It is designed to keep us hypnotized and deluded.  Get your information from reliable sources on the internet.  Start with ZNET.
2. That for-profit corporations are evil.  Reform them.  Would you trust a friend who said her sole purpose in life was to make money and that she had no moral obligations beyond that single, simple value?  “Yes, I’ll obey the law,” she would tell you, “because I have to.  But I’ll push it and stretch it and remake it, if I can afford to pull it off, to serve my goal of making money.  There is no other purpose in life, and frankly, I’d even dump you, friend, if it meant, on balance, that I’d gain.  I’d consider you a fool if you didn’t view our relationship in the same way.  So you scratch my back and, if it’s in my interest, I’ll scratch yours, but just know, I’ll sell you out if it’s good business and I’d expect you to do the same to me.”  Lovely gal, this friend.  She is precisely how the rulers of our present society operate.  Her values are their values.  Those rulers are corporations and they bestride our landscape, behemoths of unbelievable power.  They have built the United States of America into what it is today.  They have no morality but profit, yet our courts have seen to it that they enjoy the same rights as living, breathing human beings.  More rights, in fact.  They are neither alive nor are they human.  They are legal shells which have been developed into monsters driven by a few ruthless human beings who pilot them like bulldozers through our society, enriching themselves with incalculable wealth while literally killing—whether directly or indirectly—thousands and sometimes millions of human beings worldwide every year.  We must humanize corporations by requiring them to temper their drive for profits with a trumping value of what is good for our species.  To do anything less would be to ensure mass extinction. 
3. That we, the people, are the ones who hold power.  Governments exist by the consent of the governed.  Corporations run our government, but only because we allow it.  Resolved:  we will ignore the mouthpiece of corporate power, the mainstream media; we will reform corporate law to require corporations to act in the interest of the common good.  That means that profit can no longer be taken if to do so would harm others or threaten the long term stability of the biosphere.  If we begin here, by ignoring corporate double-speak and reclaiming government to reform corporate immorality, we can save ourselves.  Then we can build a beautiful world.
