Julian Casablancas has interviewed American linguist and philosopher Noam Chomsky as part of his S.O.S. – Earth Is A Mess interview series.

Casablancas and Chomsky spoke virtually, but in the clip, Chomsky appears as a giant, floating, multi-coloured head, asking Chomsky about the changing landscape of American democracy, his work in linguistics, and more. As the interview comes to a close, Casablancas even asks Chomsky what he would do if he had a magic wand.

“If I had a magic wand, I would get people to understand… let’s take the environment, which is the most crucial issue we face,” Chomsky responds. “You can’t overestimate: we have maybe a decade or two, that’s it, in which we can decide to get the heating of the environment under control. If we don’t do it, we’re finished.”
