All are quiet on the northern front,
Our guns do the talking.
Those disloyal to the guns
Are cornered dead men walking.
Crowds, contentions, protests, marches—
These afflict weak-kneed nations
Like Hong Kong, Britain, Spain, America,
All slave to democratic passions.
Against their disruptive cacophonies
We have a single mind;
Minister, media, bureaucrat, soldier—
They are of uniform kind.
We now read books that bind us all
Into a single thought;
Those that wander enquiringly
Face corrective onslaught.
The people—they savor the slogans
Sumptuous as food,
Nutritious beyond mere eatables
That they can ill afford.
Thus do their hardships disappear
And the economy improve
With word in mouth and gun in hand—
A mesmerizing brew.
