So once again international law is the enemy of the US and its Axis of Evil which includes Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
One more country on the bloody clipboard of US hegemony is doomed for criminal and savage destruction.
Niles Williamson in “The war in Yemen and the American drive for global domination”:
The US is backing a war spearheaded by a monarchy in Saudi Arabia that beheads its own subjects and provides financial support to Al Qaeda and other Sunni extremists, along with the blood-soaked military dictatorship in Egypt that issues mass death sentences and shoots down workers in the street.
What accounts for the American government’s interest in controlling Yemen? In one word: oil.
The Bab el-Mandeb strait, which, along with Egypt’s Suez Canal, connects the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean, is located between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Djibouti and Eritrea on the Horn of Africa. Much of the oil exported from the Persian Gulf to Europe, the United States and Asia must pass through the narrow strait, making it a key chokepoint for global trade.

The US also wants to reclaim the Al Anad airbase, which has been used to launch drone strikes within Yemen that have killed more than 1,000 people since 2009. The air base was seized by Houthi rebels on Wednesday morning, shortly before Saudi Arabia launched its air war.
According to Williamson up to 39 civilians — including six children — have been killed.
More details from Williamson:
In the coming days that number will begin to skyrocket, of course.
The US is offering “logistical support” for Saudi Arabia such as plenty of fighter jets and bombs.
Along with the threat on Yemen from the air, Saudi Arabia has “mobilized” approximately 150,000 soldiers at the Yemeni boarder.
150,000 soldiers!!!
Egypt, now led by US-sponsored dictator Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, is sending war ships to the Red Sea with troops ready to enter Yemen and aid Saudi Arabia in its assault.
The US is eager to defeat the Houthi rebels in Yemen who are backed by Iran along with the loyalists to former dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh. The Houthi rebels have a stronghold presently in the western provinces of Yemen.
According to Williamson, the US wants to “reinstate its beleaguered stooge, President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.” Hadi had to flee the country this week because of a Houthi assault on his compound in the south.
Williamson:
The eruption of war in Yemen is the culmination of years of intense intervention by American imperialism. The government of Hadi, which replaced the US-backed Saleh regime in 2012, is broadly despised for its collaboration with US drone strikes. As the stooge government disintegrated, the country was engulfed by sectarian conflict pitting different militias and proxy forces against each other.

The sectarian fighting in Yemen now has the potential to explode into a conflict involving the entire Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa. Among the countries that have provided support for Saudi Arabia against the Houthis are Morocco, Sudan, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. On the other side stand the governments of Iraq and Syria, which have sided with Iran in opposing military operations.
Williamson cites Anthony Cordesman, a DC foreign policy strategist, as having pointed out that since 3.8 million barrels of oil and petroleum flowed through the Bab el-Mandeb strait in 2013, war and subsequent domination of this strait would be very much to US “geo-strategic advantage.” Its control would also be enormously profitable for both Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Cordesman has also asserted that logistical and intelligence support of Saudi Arabia and Egypt may not be enough and US combat support may also be required in Yemen.
US GROUND TROOPS EAR-MARKED TO HELP PERPETRATE A BLOODBATH IN YEMEN!!!
Williamson:
The American people are being dragged into another criminal operation with incalculable consequences, planned and implemented behind their backs without even the pretense of public debate, let alone consultation.
Yemen is the latest in a string of military interventions by American imperialism that have wreaked havoc on the Middle East and Central Asia. Fifteen years after the launching of the “war on terror,” chaos and destruction plague the entire region.
Williamson looks back.
2001 we invaded Afghanistan.
2003 we invaded and occupied Iraq. It is estimated that more than one million people died in Iraq because of that invasion and occupation. We DESTROYED a society.
In 2011 US/NATO bombed Libya, overthrew and enabled the murder of President Muammar Gaddafi, dooming Libya to hellish, non-stop sectarian civil war.
Since 2011, the US has done all it can to incite civil war in Syria. It is desperate for the regime change of President Bashar al-Assad. Part of the US strategy has resulted in the CIA giving support to Al Qaeda-linked and other Islamist militants asserts Williamson. Some of these US-sponsored elements went on to organize ISIS, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. So far in Syria more than 200,000 people have died. Millions of Syrians have been displaced.
And NOW there is a brand new US intervening war in Iraq — yes, IRAQ! Also there is that US-intervening war in Syria. Both seemingly now with the US against ISIS, made up of mercenary jihadist fighters paid and trained often by the US and/or its allies especially Saudi Arabia. But this US fight against ISIS is definitely not about any US intention to promote stability in Syria or Iran. Quite the opposite.
Then there is Ukraine presently being “disintegrated” — Williamson’s word — as a result of the US intervening and promoting a fascist/neo-Nazi coup and installing a rabidly anti-Russian and predatory right wing government.
The US is doing all it can to MILITARIZE Eastern Europe. The US does not seem to care it is provoking Russia to nuclear war.
Then, there is the “pivot to Asia” in which the US is striving to network as many allies as possible AGAINST China.
With every disastrous, reckless, criminal, malicious, obscenely expensive in terms of economics and human tragedy military failure, the American “ruling class” pushes ever harder for profit and domination!
Williamson:
Over the last quarter century, US imperialism has sought to offset its declining world economic position by using its military superiority to bully or destroy regimes it deemed hostile to its global ambitions, while intimidating its imperialist “allies.”
In its mad drive for global domination, the American corporate and financial aristocracy is pushing the world towards a third world war that threatens humanity with a nuclear holocaust….
