Die Humans Die
Rolf Auer, Tuesday 21 February 2017
Perish Humans, your unrealized dream of eternal worldwide peace
only slightly out of your grasp while highly visible on the horizon of
your collective imagination, tantalizingly near yet obscured by your
petty obsessions with small-minded failings
why it isnāt a duty of ordinary citizens to ensure peace persists both internal
and external to the state cannot be ascribed to something as simple as it
was left out of The Social Contract
no itās a deeper failing that cannot be explained by something as obvious as
subversion of the collective will to peace by overwhelming individual aspirations
to achieve power at the expense of all others, itās as if the collective indifference
to achieving peace outweighs all efforts to obtain it, as if peopleāeven seeing
the light of the necessity of worldwide peaceāwould rather dwell in darkness,
that being the easier option, that darkness only mitigated by the dull pretence of
ersatz television āthoughtā
what do you think at the end of your lives, do you seek solace in the thought of
a job well done in the face of the unending oppression of eternal war, that you did
the best you could all things considered, that yours was a life well led despite hardly ever
giving a second thought to achieving peace, that individual responsibility for it could never
be realistically realized, your sorry sad excuses for never thinking seriously about it forever
being the dark cloud obscuring its light
Die Humans die, your collective impotent thought forever falling short of what you might
have been, had you had the wherewithal to exert yourselves that tiny bit necessary to
achieving peace worldwide, die unfulfilled, yet another failed species too stupid to exist
like the dinosaurs
