This song was very difficult to write because I had to balance some very delicate opinions and positions. There is certainly an argument to be made that I have appropriated the words of this group and have no right to claim this representation of their words and work. However, graffiti, which is one of the most famous ways that the members of Mujeres Creando express their messages, is an implicitly open-ended, dialogue-inducing, and interactive form. So I came to the conclusion that it was appropriate to use their words (such as "a penis, any penis, is always miniature") to possibly create further discussion of gender and feminism in a different context. This could be complicated much further, but I think it’s important to at least express the rudiments of these possible problems with the song.
