I know we can finish the work of Dr. King, together.  We must if we are to survive this terrible hate. The choice lies within each of our hearts.

I think that people can be better than that, and I know that people can be better than they are.  We are capable of bearing a great burden, once we discover that the burden is a reality and arrive where reality is

For there to be true peace we need an end to secrecy, to toxic security culture, to violence.  Come out of the shadows and let’s speak face to face, as humans do

We hope we can show the nation what works and what doesn’t, that strong nonviolent defiance of historical injustice builds loving support and needed change, and that degeneration into violence will give us just the opposite

I am writing with urgency to tell you: this violence is not inevitable.  It can be stopped
