I am 73, born and reside in the U.S., and have been an economic consultant since 1969, heading my own firm specializing in consulting to governments of third world countries in the oil, energy and natural resource areas.

My main active political history started with the civil rights movement of the 1950s, the anti-nuclear war movement of the 1960s, the anti-Vietnam War movement of the 1960s and 1970s, the anti-apartheid struggle of the 1970s and 1980s. Throughout the 1960-1995 period I was actively involved with Monthly Review magazine, as a frequent contributor and Board member. In 1995-2003 I was a principal in The Black World Today. (www.tbwt.com <http://www.tbwt.com/> ) My present work focuses on the problems related to global warming and climate change.

From this  work,  I have become convinced that the environmental problem is the  most urgent and overriding one facing the world. Most serious is the disconnect between what Science tells us has to be done to avoid life-threatening changes and the response of business and political leaders around the world. This is an international problem and cuts across many other areas, such as the near-universal pre-occupation with "economic growth", which as conventionally envisioned  is incompatible with species survival. I would hope that this Project could generate ideas and analyses and strategies, and networking relationships for dealing with this problem, toward which I would be pleased to contribute.
