Feleecia Guillen
Feleecia Guillen (she/her/ella/ela) is a proud Xicana and environmental justice organizer from Edgewood, New Mexico. She recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Mexico with a BBA in Business Administration and a BA in Spanish, with minors in Sustainability Studies and Psychology and a certificate in Honors.
At UNM, Feleecia played a key role in shaping student-led climate action. As Director of Environmental Affairs for Associated Students at the University of New Mexico, she launched the Lobos for Environmental Justice Newsletter, created workshops to connect students to environmental issues, and built stronger ties between sustainability and environmental justice on campus. Through her leadership with UNM Leaders for Environmental Action and Foresight, she organized campaigns calling on the university to divest from fossil fuels, declare a climate emergency, and commit to a carbon and waste-free future. Her organizing helped spark broader student engagement with climate policy and institutional accountability.
Beyond, Feleecia serves on the steering committee of Youth United for Climate Crisis Action (YUCCA), where she has co-developed the People’s Climate Plan and led statewide climate policy work. Additionally, she was the Director of the 2025 New Mexico Youth Climate Summit, bringing together youth from across the state for skill-building, creative action, and collective visioning. She also organizes with the NM No False Solutions coalition to challenge corporate greenwashing and uplift grassroots-led climate solutions.
As the 2025–2026 New Mexico Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, Feleecia is excited to deepen her policy and research skills to further the environmental justice movement in New Mexico and support the leadership of frontline communities. In her free time, Feleecia enjoys bachata and salsa dancing, crocheting, and reading.
