Matthew Ford is a lecturer in the departments of History and Latin American Studies at California State University, Fresno. His writing has appeared most recently in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Latin American History, A Contracorriente: una revista de estudios latinoamericanos, Public Seminar, and Jacobin Magazine. He has a forthcoming book entitled Liberalism in the Jungle: Race, Rubber, and State-Building in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
