How is power shaped without domination from a feminist perspective?
How can justice be dispensed without domination?
How does a society without a state organize the distribution of goods?
How can power be resisted?
How does one make decisions without domination and effectively in large societies?
What form of organization is appropriate to freedom from domination?
How does one grant reason and its expression in the argument take precedence over power and individual interests?
How does one change the world without taking power?
We, Uwe Bittlingmayer, Gözde Okcu and I, are organizing a conference at the university of education at Freiburg from March 19-21, 2021, where we want to present various proposals on how we can shape our economy and community differently, namely with the participation of all people it affects. It will be anarchist, i.e. domination-free approaches. We have succeeded in attracting the leading minds in their field for our conference. Even David Graeber would have come personally for a lecture, but unfortunately he passed away a few months ago. Michael Albert will come and will give the longest lecture. There are also Stephen Shalom, John Holloway and Robin Hahnel on the list. I thought you might have an interest in getting to know concrete proposals that present a more just, more free, more loving and more meaningful polity.
Our conference was prompted by the devastation that our world is facing and that we actually see as systemic. We want to contrast this with an alternative that is as sophisticated as possible, one that takes the impetus of democracy seriously and really allows for co-determination that goes beyond elections.
So far, no one has been able to explain to me conclusively how infinite economic growth should be possible in a finite world. So we need another way to organize ourselves. If you want, come, take part and listen. We would be very happy if you came and curious for your comments.
