Mike Marqusee
Mike Marqusee was born in New York and migrated to Britain in 1971, age 18. Since then he's lived mostly in London, where he has been active in numerous campaigns for social justice. For twenty years, until 2000, he was a member of the British Labour Party, working (largely without success) to stop the party's takeover by the forces of 'New Labour'. More recently he has been involved with the anti-war and Palestine solidarity movements.Mike has written extensively about the politics of culture, including sport, music and the visual arts. He has writen books on a variety of topics, including the politics of cricket in both England and south Asia, Muhammad Ali (Redemption Song), Bob Dylan (Wicked Messenger), and, most recently, If I Am Not for Myself: Journey of an Anti-Zionist Jew (Verso, 2008).
