John Sanbonmatsu is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, where he teaches courses in animal ethics, epistemology, political theory, existentialism and phenomenology, and the philosophy of technology. He became politicized in the early 1980s in the international nuclear disarmament movement. He later became involved in the Central American solidarity network, the animal rights movement, and the Green Party. He has since remained active raising public consciousness about the roots of oppression, and about the terrible suffering of the powerless. His first book, "The Postmodern Prince," examined the origins of the Left's contemporary crisis and made the case for a unified, strategy-oriented, international Leftist movement to usher in a new form of civilization. John currently focuses on the crisis of capitalism, and the opportunities and dangers this has created for a radical politics. His second, related area of research and political commitment is opposing human exterminationism on a global scale - that is, our war against the other animals.
