(NB: The reason that I look sombre in the photo is not because I am considering the ills of the world, but because I am concentrating on playing dominoes.)  I was born and grew up in South London, but because of my job as a research scientist I am currently working in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.  My current interests in public affairs are to catch up on some reading about globalisaton and climate, and to get active in some focused projects for social change, such as the formation of radical credit unions, co-ops, trade unions, consumer councils and so on.
