After intense debate across the country, Cubans are voting this week on a referendum to reform the country’s Family Code, which covers marriage, divorce, inheritance, childcare and education, adoption, LGBT rights and more.

While on the ground in Havana earlier this year, BT’s Rania Khalek sat down with Yamila Gonzalez Ferrer, Vice President of the Union of Jurists in Cuba and a member of the Commission that drafted the reforms to the family code.
