Z Magazine needs your help. This will be the last print issue unless we can raise enouth funds to continue to ship the print magazine. Please give what you can. If we can raise enough funds, we will continue to print every other month, with a new online monthly version as well. If not, we will change to a digital monthly only. We are exploring other print options, including longer versions shipped every, 3, 4 or 6 months, but that decision will have to wait to see how the fundraiser goes.

We have also improved our database by changing to an online database system at simplecirc.com,that will allow subscribers to:

have direct access to their information and pay online,
set up auto-renewal,
change their own address,
receive email notifications,
read a monthly PDF (online or downloaded), and have access to all of your PDFs (new and old issues)
directly donate to Z Magazine.

The information to access the new database can be found on your mailing label. You will need your subscriber number and zip code (see graphic) to access your subscriber information.

Once you have the information on your mailing label, please go to zcomm.org/zmag. Make sure you are on the Z Magazine page.

There will be links to renew and donate. These links will take you to our new database at simplecirc.com. You will no longer be at the Zcomm website. This new site is secure. If you select renew, you will log in using your account number and zip code (see graphic). You will be able to renew, give a gift and donate. The donate button will take you directly to a donation page. You will not have to log in. You can also donate by check. Checks can be sent to:

Please update your account with an email address so we can notify you when each issue is ready. If you do not have an email address, you can still read and download your PDF.

On a personal note, Lydia Sargent is no longer able to work on Z Magazine. Lydia loved working on Z Magazine. If anybody has anything they would like to say to Lydia, please feel free to email or write. She always enjoyed messages from subscribers.

Z Magazine is down to one staff member now, so please be patient as I try to work through this. I will try to get back to everyone who emails. If you have any questions, email eric.sargent@zmag.org.

You can also type in these links to go directly to the site to renew, give a donation, give a gift subscription or sign up as a new subscriber.

This is your article this month.

We’re glad you keep coming back. If Z’s work has informed, challenged, or inspired you, that’s no accident: there are no paywalls, no ads, and no billionaire owners here, and there never will be. Independent media survives because readers choose to support it.

Billionaires fund their own media. We fund ours. Help us reach 1,000 sustaining donors:

CRITICAL ACTION

Critical Action is a longtime friend of Z and a music and storytelling project grounded in liberation, solidarity, and resistance to authoritarian power. Through music, narrative, and multimedia, the project engages the same political realities and movement traditions that guide and motivate Z’s work.

If this project resonates with you, you can learn more about it and find ways to support the work using the link below.

Independent media is not disappearing because the ideas are weak.

It is disappearing because platforms reward speed, outrage, and algorithmic visibility over thoughtful analysis.

More than 100,000 people read Z every month, free of paywalls, ads, and billionaire owners. It takes fewer than 1 in 100 of them to fund all of it: 1,000 donors who keep Z independent, for everyone, and build what comes next.
