Apa sampeyan kesel kaya crita babagan biaya kuliah saya mundhak? Aku wis pirang-pirang taun ora kuliah, lan sampeyan kudu mbayar aku bali, nanging iki ora apik.
Kanggo ndeleng carane kethรจk, nyoba pamikir cilik pikirane. Mbayangno mbukak koran lan maca iki:
"Preparasi Perang lan Perang kanggo Rumah Tangga AS Munggah Lagi Taun iki
"Terus tren suwene puluhan taun, biaya sing dibayar saben warga AS kanggo perang lan persiapan perang mundhak 5.3 persen taun iki.
"Kanthi kabeh biaya militer AS, ing pirang-pirang departemen pamrentah, tekan $ 1.2 triliun saben taun, miturut Chris Hellman saka Proyek Prioritas Nasional, lan kanthi pedunung AS 314 yuta wong, tagihan kanggo sing milih nggawe perang minangka asing pilihan kabijakan taun iki dadi $ 3,822 saben wong - ora ngetung ruangan, papan, lan buku. "
RUU kasebut, kanggo sapa wae sing ndhukung prioritas mbuwang pamrentah AS lan sapa wae sing ora, lan tagihan kanggo saben wong, wiwit warga senior cacat nganti bayi sing nembe lahir.
Itโs a bill that might strike some as a bit high. So, hereโs one way this imaginary news story might develop:
โIn an expanding trend, thousands of Americans opted for a smaller military investment this year. Choosing to pay their share of a military the size of Chinaโs โ $188 billion, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute โ some war consumers bought the $599 war plan this year.
โOthers opted for the Russian model at a cost of $280. But with polls showing that Americans believe Iran to be the greatest threat to peace, the Iranian-sized military has become this yearโs most rapid climber in the rankings; of course, the $20 price tag doesnโt hurt.
"Buddy Beaverton saka Sioux Falls, South Dakota, ujar ing kantor pos nalika ngirim cek: 'Yen kita entuk pasokan perang tahunan Kanada kanthi rega $ 59, kenapa aku kudu mbayar $ 3,822? Cukup apike, dheweke duwe obat resep sing luwih murah sing ora diidini tuku! 'โ
Mr. Beaverton would have a point. Some other nations that donโt invest in wars and war preparations the way the United States does also make college education free or affordable โ and still have plenty of money to spare for frivolous luxuries like healthcare or energy systems that donโt render the planet unlivable.
Apa sing bakal kaya urip kita yen kuliah minangka bebas lan ora bisa ditanggulangi nalika mbuwang militer saiki, nanging mbuwang militer minangka tagihan opsional?
Those who didnโt want it could choose not to pay. Those who wanted a coast guard, a national guard, and some anti-aircraft weapons could chip in a few bucks. Those who wanted a bit more than that could pay a bit more.
Lan wong-wong sing pengin pasukan ing 175 negara, operator pesawat ing saben segara, cukup senjata nuklir kanggo ngancurake nyawa ing pirang-pirang planet, lan armada drone sing bisa traumatisasi lan musuhan sawetara negara sekaligus - bisa uga mbayar $ 3,822, ditambah uga mesthi $ 3,822 liyane kanggo sapa wae sing milih.
Apa proposal naive! Ngiwa kanggo pilihan individu, para komunis bakal numpes, lan pertahanan nasional kita bakal crumble!
Really? People in the United States give over $300 billion to charity each year. Nobody forces them to. If they believed weapons and wars were the most important cause to donate their dollars to, theyโd do it. No nation on earth spends $300 billion or anywhere close to it on its military, other than the United States.
Lan pamarentah ora mbutuhake pendhudhuk kanthi cara sosialis, bisa uga milih kanggo mbiyantu panyebab-panyebab kamanungsan sing ambanรฉ amal pribadi saiki akeh banget. Pemberian pribadi bisa ngurus Pentagon.
Nanging yen kawicaksanan babagan asil kontra-militarisme nyebar, yen alternatif-alternatif nonviolent dipelajari, yen sekolah gratis duweni pangaruh sing positif marang akal kolektif kita, lan yen kasunyatan kita bisa mungkasi kemiskinan global utawa nyegah pemanasan global kanggo pecahan saiki mbuwang militer metu, sing ngerti? Mungkin militarisme bakal gagal ing pasar bebas.

I love your analysis, particularly the โsocialistic funding of the military.โ I rhetorically ask why is it considered โsocialismโ to fund at least a level of public healthcare, or improved public education, and not socialistic to fund the military?? All are โnecessaryโ for the public good and for security, arenโt they? And, what is so evil about socialism, anyway?
