MIT Professor Noam Chomsky discusses U.S. support for Israel; the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement (BDS); and the blockade of Gaza. “In the Occupied Territories, what Israel is doing is much worse than apartheid,” Chomsky says. “To call it apartheid is a gift to Israel, at least if by ‘apartheid’ you mean South African-style apartheid. … There’s a crucial difference. The South African Nationalists needed the black population. That was their workforce. The Israeli relationship to the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories is totally different. They just don’t want them. They want them out, or at least in prison.”

Noam has stated with eloquent persuasion again that what Israel is doing in the Occupied Territories is much worse South African style-apartheid because they just don’t want them, specifically meaning that they want them out, or at least in prison, whereas the South African nationalists vitally needed the black population since that was their workforce. Therefore, he has explained with great clarity, logic, and wisdom that if we want to contribute effectively in ending ultimately the Israeli occupation and oppression in the Occupied Territories, we should persuade the Us government to terminate all economic and military assistance to Israel that aids and abets the Israeli occupation in the Occupied Territories. This should also include all non-governmental support for the Israeli Occupation in the Occupied Territories as well as supporting the global BDS movement against the this Israelii Occupation not only in the West Bank and Gaza but also in the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights. In conclusion, he shows very clearly that we must engage in actions that are effective in overcoming the Israeli Occupation.. We must be pragmatic by doing what is most effective in achieving our goals ultimately.
