I am in NYC for the 92nd time but this is the first time to be on TV. On Wednesday I’m with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzales on "Democracy Nei:" http://www.democracynow.or
Tomorrow I tape with Laura Flanders’ show TV Grit: http://www.freespeech.org/
Events could intercede but that’s the schedule for now.
The topic? The perils and possibilities of the Obama transition, of course.
Topics aside, I have found another excuse to walk the sidewalks of Manhattan.
I started coming here in my teens, back when an earlier centrist Democrat wrapped in the rhetoric of change, hope, and moral rectitude — Jimmy Carter — was going to restore national honor and decency after a long bloody and corrupt Republican nightmare.
They are selling buttons with Obama and JFK’s images next to each other in Times Square. That strikes me as a more historically accurate pairing than the standard apple and orange Obama-Martin Luther King Jr. confusion.
NYC Pretzels are now $3.
