Nationwide — As International Workers’ Day approaches, the Labor for Palestine National Network, National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP), and the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN) have joined in endorsing the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions-Gaza’s 2025 May Day call. This call urges U.S. labor to take bold and concrete action—including general strikes and coordinated civil disobedience—to stop what the ongoing U.S.-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza.
The call comes amid a wave of broader national mobilization. More than 600 May Day events are planned across all 50 states, addressing a wide range of urgent struggles including workers’ rights, immigrant justice, the right to organize, racial equity, and opposition to the repressive policies of the Trump administration. A growing number of these events are also lifting up demands for Palestinian liberation, connecting local and global struggles for justice.
“We, in the General Federation of Trade Unions in Gaza, address this call to you on the eve of International Workers’ Day, affirming that your struggle for workers’ rights in the United States is inseparable from our struggle against occupation and colonialism,” wrote PGFTU-Gaza. “True labor solidarity is demonstrated through actions, not just words.”
In response, labor, student, and community organizations are planning the following actions on and around May 1, 2025:
- Participation in general strike efforts and local labor walkouts
- Teach-ins, vigils, and moments of silence for Palestine and broader justice movements
- Protests at weapons manufacturers, military facilities, and corporations complicit in oppression
- Public rallies and worker-led contingents calling for an end to U.S. funding of Israel
- Social media storms using hashtags like:
#AnInjuryToPalestineIsAnInjuryToAll
#MayDay4Palestine
#GeneralStrike2025
#StopArmingIsrael
#DumpIsraelBonds
#BDS
#DroptheHistadrut
#FromTheRiverToTheSeaPalestineWillBeFree

- Teamsters Mobilize
- National Educators United
